The information below is just a snapshot of some of the things we offer to schools in Newcastle. For more up to date information, please see our SLA within Services to Schools or email us.
Our First Thing Music programme uses Kodály-based principles and engages both young people and staff in school. Using Kodály-based music activities in school nurtures students' musical skills, enhances their cognitive development, and fosters a lifelong love for music.
Learning ukulele as a whole class in school boosts students' musical abilities, encourages teamwork, and provides a fun and accessible introduction to playing an instrument.
Learning djembe drumming in school enhances students' coordination, boosts their confidence, and promotes a deep understanding of diverse cultures and musical traditions.
Learning samba drumming in school energizes students, enhances their rhythmic skills, and fosters a sense of community and cultural appreciation.
When young people sing together as a class, it brings them closer, makes them feel happier, and helps them support each other, turning the classroom into a lively and caring place.
